I didn't realize how long I've been following you until I re-read this here. Good to see your whole catalog.

I’m disabled, was lucky enough to get SSDI, and am trying to return to work in some capacity. Per vocational rehabilitation criteria, I am among the “most severely disabled” and hold a MS in counseling. Yet, I am expected to attempt to survive on about 17,000 a year, that’s pre tax, and pre Medicare premiums. Then I have all the meds, copays, food, housing, transportation etc costs. It isn’t enough to live on. I’m disadvantaged because I married, but there’s little to no way I could survive on my own. I didn’t qualify for SNAP in IA once I got disability. If I have had such struggles as a well educated, neurodivergent, multidisabled, white woman, (with great friends,) it’s no wonder so many without the benefits of my education and lack of melanin have had their lives ruined by capitalism, racism, managed “healthcare,” & the prison industrial complex. It’s a sick system. Thanks for shining a light on humanity’s lack of humanity for the less fortunate. 💚

About the 1955 vs today rates. Is it "institutionalized + prisons 1955 > institutionalized + prisons today" or "institutionalized + prisons 1955 > prisons today"? They'd both be shocking but the first one would be really shocking 😳
