Thank you! I was not sure if it would work going into it and it surprised even me. I did not include the two women that blocked me before I decided to tell people it was a school project. Haha!
It's more than amazing that you took the time to put all this together. Political junkies don't realize how many voters pay no attention to politics. So many people see no news, read no periodicals, have nothing related to current events on their social media, and vote the way their parents did. It's so discouraging.
I agree. Additionally it’s often overlooked that many times it’s poor people who cannot mentally handle any more sadness in their life, don’t have the time to read the news, or maybe want to spend the time they have zoning out on something to make them happy. I try not to approach people who “don’t care about politics” negatively because we don’t know what caused them to feel that way.
I have a female friend I went to college with who's like that. She's very progressive/hippy but also very go with the flow, and married a small town conservative guy. Last time I brought up something political she said something along the lines of "oh I don't pay attention to all that, [husband] cares more about it." I've never wanted to smack someone through the internet more 🤦♀️
I would prefer to live in a world where your talent at highlighting real awful things isn't required, and you can write horror fiction instead. Or something. This is amazing, and yet again I hated it.
Good goddamn, this is incredible. HUGE props to you for your ability to reach people and open their eyes / change their minds with facts, while also keeping them open to learn the facts because they don’t feel attacked or belittled. You have an incredible gift for this work! Thank you for sharing it with the world.
Thank you. Oh gosh if that happened and she saw this I would be so happy. Although hopefully she would not be offended I said she had her flaws. I have yet to find a politician I wouldn’t describe that way.
Thank you for your work! I'm fortunate enough to live in a country where abortion has been legal for everyone for the past 5 years at least, here's to hoping people everywhere can choose what to do with their bodies.
What makes the quotes about population even grosser is the knowledge that crime rates dropped significantly in the 1990s. Why? It was ~20 years after Roe v Wade was passed. Women who are low income, POC, immigrants, etc - populations that are disproportionately represented in prison - account for a significant percentage of abortions. Women who for one reason or another would struggle to raise a child, and that child would be at higher risk of being convicted of a crime. So at the time that children conceived after RvW would be reaching adulthood there were fewer of those high risk children due to the mothers seeking abortions. Incarceration rates went down. That should be a good thing, right? Doesn't everyone want less crime? Well, not the prison-industrial complex. They had to start getting creative with new charges to keep beds filled. (In case you're unaware, private for profit prisons typically have a clause in their contract that REQUIRES the government to maintain a minimum percentage of inmates or be penalized.) Cannabis legalization hasn't exactly helped there either, since mandatory minimum sentences for nonviolent drug charges were a huge part of that. So naturally it makes sense that they'd be in favor of using threats of criminal charges to pressure women into having children that are more likely to land in prison. They win either way.
Excuse me while I go scrub my skin raw because everything about this is utterly disgusting.
I had to stop reading a few times to just calm myself. I worked at pp and many of those specifics i didn't know. Its all overwhelming. Also the rush quote made me ill.
I have so much respect for this project. where do women get off on not caring about rules being made into laws telling them what they're allowed to do with their bodies and then not really having feelings about it? how are they ok with the fact that 1,357 men and 225 women (!!! 🫠) put abortion restriction/ban laws into place last year? just wow. why does a fetus have more rights that a pregnant person? just what. the. actual. fu€k?
thank you for such and amazing article. thank you for presenting all the facts and trying to educate other women about the horrors of "not caring" ♥️
If there’s interest I could publish this in a post just of the questions so you can share it for others to answer.

Genius coming up with the "school project" ruse to keep them engaged.

One day 😔
Thank you for this, you're incredible!
Ahh! I’m such a fan of your work. I’m so happy you like mine too!
I appreciate you saying that so much!!! 💜💜💜💜
This was amazing and you are incredible for doing this.

Now, how to get this to the Harris campaign?
Thank you. Oh gosh if that happened and she saw this I would be so happy. Although hopefully she would not be offended I said she had her flaws. I have yet to find a politician I wouldn’t describe that way.
Methinks she is not that thin skinned. 😁
That's practically a compliment compared to the insults MAGAts throw around.
Incredible!!
Thank you!

🤞🏻
It was legal here for decades...until it wasn't.
This is the most horrifying thing I've seen all week, which these days is saying something.
Awesome work, Brooke! Assuming your test subjects follow through on their pledges, you've made an amazing difference already.
I so hope they do. I sent a few of them info on early voting because they mentioned they were just so busy and might not make it in that day.

Massive respect for your thorough work. I’d also like to know how to expand awareness, too.
