Butterfly McQueen - actor, famous for Gone With the Wind, she was an atheist and her path there is very interesting as part of her decisions to be an atheist was from your ancestors who were slaved.
Grandma Moses - another artists that started way later in life, also had an interesting story growing up. (Her work is at major galleries)
