Wangari Maathai, born in Kenya on April 1, 1940, fought against the corrupt Kenya government for decades. She’s responsible for the Green Belt Movement which planted over 50 million trees in Kenya.

Her government said she should be a proper African woman by respecting men and being quiet.

She didn’t listen.
