You might have noticed that I’m pretty interested in the history of forced gynecological procedures and sterilizations. This next story is likely shockingly recent to some people. This story happened 2017 through 2020.

The nurse who brought this situation to light is struggling as a result of sharing. She’s become a target for those who want to deny the mistreatment of migrant women by ICE.

Horny History: Concepcion Ruiz

Concepcion Ruiz was a teenager when she was forcibly sterilized by the state of California in 1930. Her sterilization was impacted by the racist anti Latina views of that time. In California, Latinas were at a 59% greater risk of sterilization than non-Latinas. The average age of sterilization was 17 years old.
