Make America Learn History Again: George Washington

George Washington. An American hero, or so the story goes.

At this point in history, some of the Haudenosaunee had sided with the British and helped attack the Americans. Of course, given the circumstances, their attacks were methods of self defense. Regardless, the great American leaders didn’t like them. Adding to this issue is that the British and British loyalists would sometimes dress up as the Haudenosaunee while attacking the Americans. Better to blame their actions on someone else.

I know I already gave a warning, but I need to repeat, this one will be tough to read.

Here’s a quote from George Washington you might not have heard before. In it, he calls for the genocide of the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) people.

I fail to see how we as Americans in 2023 can still teach children that this man was a hero. May the truth be well known someday.
